I guess you could call me a tea connoisseur. I enjoy brewing sun tea fresh from my garden in the summertime, and in the winter months, you will find me on a cold and blustery day by my wood cookstove with a cup of hot tea.

I enjoy a variety of flavors and enjoy mixing and blending my own teas as well. Today, I would like to share a favorite recipe of mine that not only has the house smelling wonderful and cinnamon-y, but will also boost your immune system and is a great assist for the seasonal bugs that come our way.

Immune Boosting Tea

Ingredients

  • 1 Organic Cinnamon Stick
  • 2 tbsp Astragalus Root
  • 1 tsp Licorice Root
  • 2 quarts water

Instructions

Break cinnamon stick into pieces.

Combine it with the astragalus, licorice, and water in a pot.

Bring to a boil, then let steep for 2 to 3 hours on a warm surface, covered. I use my wood cook stove, but the lowest heat on a normal stove works fine too.

Remove from the heat and let set for a few hours.

Warm it up and drink a full glass once or twice a day.

My family and I forage herbs from the wild (for instance, dandelion in the spring), grow many plants in our garden, and occasionally purchase herbs from my favorite online source, Mountain Rose Herbs for my personal apothecary.

This tea is a family favorite I hope you enjoy this winter and throughout the year as you need to boost your immune system.

What are your favorite teas? What do you use to boost your immune system?
